The chapter surveys previous work on the language of the play, and then offers some new analysis we&#8217;ve done, chiefly using <a href=\"http:\/\/wordhoard.northwestern.edu\/userman\/index.html\">WordHoard<\/a>. Along the way, we consider the role of word frequency in literary analysis, and especially the word &#8216;the&#8217; in\u00a0<em>Macbeth <\/em>(we also think about word frequency in <a href=\"http:\/\/winedarksea.org\/?p=1596\">this<\/a> post).
